ALL HALLOWS RAGER!!

THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT!! ALL YOU BIKE NERDS AND WHAT NOT BETTER BE HERE!! PARTY AT RUSTBELT! FUCK YEAH!

Happy Birthday Wouter

For those of you who forgot he would have been 27 today. It gives me plenty to think about and plenty to be thankful for. Snob put it best when he said "we'd give the jerseys off our backs and the bikes from under us to have him back". Keep it rubber side down everybody.

NEOCX #4 Pics

The rest of the Scum City Crew from Stark CX!

More pics of the first three Neocx to come as well as our Columbus brethren.

Scum City's Ace Smasher

SCUM CITY'S Ace Smasher Jay Karp!!
Jay has joined the Category A this season. He has jumped off to a smashers welcome and keeps refining his speed and technique with each race. Here are pics of him shredding the course at Neocx #4 in Stark/Kent.

Photos courtesy of Russell Lee! THANKS!

Big Ups to John Proppe!!

For those who wish to step beyond the yellow tape and commit to the Cat 1 NEOCX arena know of the challenges they face. Paul Martin and Matt Weeks are often dueling for 1st place. This week however has been different. John Proppe with a heroic blast of speed beats Paul Martin at the line to claim a huge "W". Way to go John!!

The Hero of Canton....

Well, to my two readers if you need me, I won't be at todays cross race. I've had nagging pains in my hip for the last couple weeks and figured to take a day off. Now mind you I'll be doing important things like fixing my kitchen faucet and going to Sams Club. Maybe Home Depot if there's time. With me there not dragging the singlespeed division to a boring halt the team should do just fine. Hell better than just fine those guys are flat out teeing off sometimes.
Race season 2011 has been a total wash for me personally, but really great for the team. My only concern is if I'm gonna be fast enough to make the team next year! I'm making some changes today here in the blogular universe in the Scum City Way to allow for a lot of team members to contribute up in here. I promise you they're better writers then me, and have much better grammar. So with that I'm off to peruse the intertubes for bikes and bike related things. Thinking about getting gears next year, that might help a little.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna lip sync for my life....

Looks to be a muddy one tomorrow, that might offer me absolutely no advantages as I continue my quest to glory. And by glory I mean a steak sandwich. Maybe a genesee cream ale. Spent the morning doing what any self respecting guy would be doing on a saturday, moving someone. Also considering my racing helmet. You'd think I would have considered this before I started racing but that's just not how things work in my tiny tiny world. I'm leaning heavily towards Giro but I'm unsure what to get. Any suggestions out there?

The cooler weather has made all the difference in the world this week. I'm not a 90 plus degree sorta guy. I'm a 30-60 degree guy. Oh well, I'm running out of steam but really looking forward to tomorrow. I hope my two readers can come out and support us!

It's early as shit, do you know...

Where my sanity is? I was in bed at 930 last night. Beat to shit, eyes closing at 9. My two readers might be shocked to find out that this actually makes me happy. It means my body is getting into winter mode, and that means I"ll start getting some sleep for the first time all year. Can't wait for Sunday, I promise to at least finish this race. Let's be honest, I'm gonna suck. I will finish my race, I promise. Keep telling yourself that fatty, and it might come true. I'm hoping to get some pics to post of the guys next week so my readership knows who to stalk. Ok, I gotta pay some bills, enjoy your friday. Hit me up if you want noodlecat.

Isn't it supposed to rain at manatoc?

Ok, like the day ends in Y, beer is always delicious and every meal gets dessert today was supposed to be rainy. For the three readers we have, it wasn't. It was fucking miserably hot, by all accounts the mid 90s at race time. I lined up to start and from the jump a few things were evident.

1. I'm slow
2. I was dehydrated when I started
3. I was not having fun.

I took off, got dropped by the pack and lapsed into my old routine of racing alone. Until about halfway down the course and I veered into a totally unseen section. Apparently I had mis-rode the warm up lap and did a bunch of the mountain bike course. First Lap was horrible, figuring out unknown paths at whatever speed I could muster up without losing it.
Second lap felt OK, not great. I was clearly hurting and not doing well but that's not news to me. I finish up and start on my third. I ate it hard coming up a small steep hill and bounced my head off the ground. At this point I was lapped by the geared riders, which wasn't at all fun for me to see.
I came around to the finish and it all went sideways. I had trouble seeing and was having some problems due to the crash. I called it and walked off, completely defeated. And feeling like a piece of shit.

On positive notes, Alex did really well, as did Will, and I'm really proud of both of them. I'm hoping cooler climates will help me. Although it's apparent I need a racing helmet. My bern was baking my brain the whole time.

Oh well, I got kitties to hang with and shit to do. See you guys back out there on the course next week, where I'll no doubt fail again.

Nerves of noodles

Well, its race day here for our ten maybe six readers. I know for a fact the guys are prepped, ready and happy. I on the other hand am terrified, worried, and shaking. Hoping this single speed experiment of mine works out ish, esque, like. I hope to see a few of you out today to hang out. I'll be the one craving beer by lap number two for those of you playing along at home.

Btw, fuck you wheaties, this is the breakfast of champions. Brown rice, little soy, little tamarind, little bit of sriracha. That's fuel for a whole day son!
