Halloween Aftermath... Punch and pie

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out last night. It meant a lot to us to get all the support from our friends. Pics and the such to follow, but for now just know we all had a blast. Now off to the Halloween race to continue my racy weekend of racetasticness, which will culminate in me taking dead last twice. Keep it rubber side down out there, and for the record cliff bar pumpkin pie spice flavor is DELICIOUS

Man, DZ is one strange strange dude.

And by that I mean Dave Zabriskie, As a fan of PRO cycling nothing makes me happier then just some strange fucker racing his ass off. BTW, 'round these parts "strange fucker" isn't an insult. It actually means we like you. From his nickname Captain America(I'm officially coming out of the geek closet by admitting he's one of my idols, the character not the cyclist) to his infamous video The Fireplace to the Casteli shield jersey Will and I spotted on the tour last year I think he's making cycling much more fun for me to watch. It helps he's an American I do rather like to root for my countrymen much like everyone else in the world. If you're ever free and feel like racing a race with us DZ feel free, you're first 22 beers are on me. And I can't pay you, not in money. So also keep that in mind. I read on the snob he's selling his TT bike on ebay. Hilarious thing is the fucking Captain America shirt, ride on you strange fucker, ride on. If you're ever in Scum City, I'll get ya a cheap beer or a case.

Since I've outed myself as a geek, I'm actually gonna check out the Captain America flick this week, I'll drop a review later.

I ordered a set of Bebop pedals review to also follow in a month or so.

I took a short day today, it's strange only working 8 hours. It feels so... short. I've been working 730-500 or later five days a week for going on three years, only took one day off in five years total. I guess you can get used to anything if you do it long enough. Either I'm a study in worth ethic or a moron Cue NFL music, you make the call.

I also had to take off my trusty leather saddle for the winter, sad face, I have had nothing short of an awesome experience with my Velo Orange saddle. I highly recommend them for you to put it under your ass space, possibly the crackway?

Eh, it's time for me to start relaxing for the night. Six AM comes way too early. Keep it rubber side down everyone.

In between tags....

Trying the mobile app for blogging,  interface seems good, no administrator functions but what the hey.
Seriously quit raining.  This shit stopped being cool a while ago and frankly I'm growing tired of it. Happy Monday, see you Friday at the race.

Touch the sky.... .

Standard day before race day rigamarole, stash the hookers body make cookies. Looking forward to getting out and actually racing tomorrow. I was actually bothered at the cancel of Cross My heart and Hope to Die. Strange as that is, the guy who comes in perpetual dead last was really stoked to go out and do exactly that. I'm hoping the team has another strong showing as the standings prove. I'm really proud of the guys, they're all doing great.

I on the other hand, oh well, I'm a cleveland sports fan there's always next year.

Good things on the horizon everybody keep checking in I intend to make a lot of announcements soon. Keep it rubber side down

Hold on, I'm not done. I needed to reference something that bothered the holy fuck out of me. If you haven't seen it, I'm talking about this bullshit right here. I'm worth so much more than 42 dollars. I'm a messenger, a friend, a boyfriend, a sibling, and if I'm lucky one day not a complete misanthrope.
This country is fucked if this trend continues. Cycling is good for cities, it forces residents to actually get to know their city. I hated Cleveland before The Beard got me back on a bike. Now I bleed Scum City's dirty water, it's desolation and decline. I'm part of my city because I don't view it from a seat with a rolled up window from the highway, rolled down just enough so you can have your cigarette and not pay attention. People like this driver are the ones who throw things at me and tell me to get off the road, pass me by less than a foot then slam on the brakes and laugh at me. What people don't know is that I'm part of this city, moving through it at the speed of commerce doing my best to serve my clients. I'm a proud working messenger, and a god damn good one if you ask me. I don't wear my politics on my bag like some, I don't kick out mirrors like others but keep this shit up and that's gonna make a comeback.
This kid killed a man, and got a 42 dollar ticket. I once got a 250 dollar ticket for rolling a red, have been harassed by countless security guards for locking up to a railing to make a delivery, yelled at by countless attorneys for their mistakes, and the whole time came back for more. Not once flinching, never giving in to the bullshit. I've bled in the street, and finished the day with a knee that looked like it was a watermelon. I've been unable to speak due to an infection in my lungs, had countless days where I couldn't lift my arm above my shoulder and never once quit, never called in and rarely deny a job.
Fuck you if you think I'm worth 42 dollars. Ask anyone in my life, any of my clients, any of my co-workers. How many of us have to die before you think it might not be so acceptable to end the life of another? How many ESPN reporters have to laugh at tour crashes before things change.

But I digress, as Lupe says "The Show goes On" I'm gonna keep on this grind, and if this trend continues, I might have to start listening to my inner Grames.

Keep it rubber side down out there, and I mean it
Dave.

Huzzah!

For those of you who don't pay attention, the land of Cleves just had its wettest year ever. Not in that good fun way you dirty dirty readers. By readers you know I"m talking to two people. Did I move to portland? Are we San Fransisco East? These are taxing mental questions right before work. With last weeks race canceled I truly hope that the team didn't forget how to ride a bike, Captain George I'm looking your way! I on a personal note survived yet another birthday with absolutely no deaths or mayhem. I'm getting good at that in my old age.
Also, to the other messengers who read this, invest in a shoe dryer. I bought one this year and it's the best purchase I've made in half a forever. Put soaked shoes on them, in the morning put on dry non stinky shoes. I can't rightly tell how it works. It involves physics I think.
Well, it's time for this guy to go earn his 14 dollars, the hard way.

Ok, I've decided

Captain George's new pit bike has to be mine. It might be the only bike that can't be Georged, too badly. All seems well today, I've been decently productive and eagerly await my failure tomorrow. Keep it rubber side down everybody out there, I'll see you tomorrow.

Six A.M. Waking up in the morning....

Holy shit this friday couldn't have come sooner, haven't really slept all week so I'm half zombie and half cranky. At least the holiest of holies happens sunday. Yep, new bike day, to anyone into bikes new bike day makes your birthday, Christmas, and your bris all rolled into one seem like the exact opposite of the day the coffee shop was out of coffee, it's that cool.
Found a few awesome bike links this week, so I'll leave them here, something to watch later

Keep it rubber side down out there everybody, stay safe and get me some OCB if you're over there. I'll pay you back, I promise.

BTW, this post is sponsored by Genny Cream Ale and Stupid.

Anyone else see my sanity?

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been hard at work not winning races. That shit is mad tiring, if you didn't know. Come on out to willoughby sunday it should be a good time, and I guarantee greg made the most brutal course ever. Thanks greg, where do I mail the bucket of my tears from the drive home. Have a good weekend all and I hope you stay mildly drunk.

ALSO HOLY SHIT DID ANYONE ELSE SEE GWYNETH PALTROW IS NOW A DENTIST?

So...

I added a new blog to our list, Death by Decapitation. Pretty brutal. Especially with the Discharge font. HA. Rad dudes! Anyway, the race yesterday in Orville fucking ruled! It was basically a motocross course considering the rhythm section and multiple tabletops. So far this season we are all doing fairly well with the exception of Dave the DFL King. And that's not me talking shit either, the point is to go have fun and drink beer, it's not road racing (dicks). We're still trying to find photographers and video people... Alot of people say they're gonna do it and either come once or not at all. C'mon people help some brothas out. Anyways... hopefully people actually come out for our alleycat. We're doing it the Friday of halloween weekend since most everyone is doing something that Saturday. Show up! You'll be racing for some new wheels, along with a bunch of other stuff. Also, it will be starting not too long after Cleveland Critical Mass, so we're hoping for some chaos.

Bottoms up or the rest in yer hair.

Scumbers.

I made this in about 4 minutes, so there's a lot wrong with the chart. For starters I need to find a way to account for weeks that people don't race. Currently I just use a 1 when either someone doesn't race or DNFs. I imagine next time I can just average the race before the "non-race' and the race afterword for a not accurate at all but pretty looking place. This kinda screws up the trend line, not kinda, majorly screws up the trend line. Also, the data is based on place ratio, so it assumes that you race the same race every week. After the season ends I can have enough info to weight each race by placing, and by distance, to hopefully make the chart more accurate. We'll see.

What can we see here? Well the goal is to get to 0. The closer you are to 1 the suckier you are doing. Will so far has the best trends for Scum City. Go Will.

Please, Han Shot first

SCUM CITY KILLED IT TODAY!

Aside from me, Killiam, happy birthday, and congrats on your first of many podiums. You got this shit kid, keep it up.

Nice to get the love from everyone today, felt fun in brooklyn.

I'm sure everyone is gonna talk about how bad the conditions were, I"m gonna talk about how much fun today. We flat out played in the mud. Shit ruled yo, flat out.

I was dead last as always, nuff said #excelsior(one geek reads this blog right)

J. Karp did that shit on one bike, not like everyone else who changed out every lap, shit was raw!

I'm cussing a bit more then normal, A few high lifes, and a lots of laughs can do that. I'm gonna wind down, and just call it, but I'll see you guys next week.

Another Saturday night

And I spent most of the day working on stuff around my house, laundry, making food for the team. Lots of good stuff going on for this team, I've had a few interesting talks. 2012 is looking amazing, not so much for me, I"m still gonna suck. but for the team. I'll continue to do my "work" as it were. On a personal note, I'm thinking of dumping single speed, or at least racing in the C class tomorrow. I'm getting fucking mauled by the SS cats and it'd be nice to be able to race in a pack at least.

Also, as a working messenger, I'd like to thank one of our readers for all he does for the community, that's Squid. You guys make the job look easy. I make it look like it's completely silly.

Also, set a new record with the warsaw today. Two twenty pound bags of charcoal, two bags of hickory chunks carried from lowes. Had to be 55 pounds, felt good actually. It's not gonna feel as good as this pulled pork I made. I think the kids will call it "dank" or "the schizz".

Local race tomorrow, come out to brooklyn rec everyone, it's a layup of a drive and I guarantee Scum City is gonna race well. Everyone but me, that being said, I'm gonna get back to listening to this Katy Perry disc....

Shit, did I type that?

No, I lied, I'm cranking black metal, um, yeah.....
